Burley Charities
Formed through the amalgamation of several charities dating back from the early 18th century and has been supporting Burley villagers for over three hundred years. It exists solely to help those in need living within the Parish of Burley.

A popular misconception is that everyone in the village is financially comfortable and emotionally supported.

Burley Charities (BC) identifies those villagers who are less fortunate than the majority and shows them that there is a caring mechanism within the village that either helps them to get back on their feet or provides support to those who struggle to support themselves.

BC helps either in grants of money or gifts in kind. Typical support is money for food, clothing, heating or essential household items. Grants have also been made towards furniture, toys for children and learning projects. At Christmas, the charity gives out a number of food vouchers to people who are known to be suffering financially. It also sends Christmas cards and plants to villagers who have either been bereaved during the year or who have given selflessly of themselves to others.

The support that BC makes available is given on a totally confidential basis.

If you, or someone you know needs assistance or support, any of the Trustees listed below may be contacted in the strictest confidence:
Revd. John Ash - burleyvicarage@gmail.com
Jane Bowry - janebowry@googlemail.com
Nicky Cook – nickycook22@gmail.com
Jayne Downing - ukjaynedowning@gmail.com
Paul Holdsworth - 07763 432170

BC relies largely upon receiving generous donations from fellow villagers. If you would like to contribute in order to help us to support the village as a whole, then please contact any of the above or John Cook, Clerk to The Trustees at cookjohnr@outlook.com.
